Research Complete
Calvert Shepherd was traveling in his pickup truck heading east along I-40 in the high desert area of Arizona. It was late in the afternoon and he was headed toward home after making a scheduled stop, for research for his latest assignment, in the west end of the state. Home, in east Tennessee, was still a long way off in terms of days and miles, but it didn’t matter to Calvert. His Ford crew cab dually was set up for comfort and convenience during long trips, and carrying camping gear allowed him more freedom of choice for accommodations at the end of each day, especially on trips out into the west. He was not in any hurry to get home on this particular trip; he was on a mission, an opportunity provided mission.
